Major cities of Rajasthan - an overview

Rajasthan is the biggest state in India in terms of area. Despite being the biggest state, the population of this state is comparatively low than other states because its large area is covered by desert. Rajasthan has a varied culture in its different cities and each culture will not fail to satisfy you. Be it food, be it the forts, the museums, or its landforms, Rajasthan is a state inhabiting many awe-inspiring things. Jaipur

Also known as the Pink City, Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan. Jaipur is a connecting city to most of the cities in Rajasthan as well as cities in other states, like Agra, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, etc. You can enlighten your taste buds in every corner of the different streets as the food culture of Jaipur is on top. The famous Kachori, Daal-Baati Choorma, and the famous restaurant Chokhi Dhani are all the essence of Jaipur, and you will love to spend time here. Coming to tourist places, Jaipur has a lot of places where you can pull out your camera and click amazing pictures. The sunrise at the Nahargarh Fort is majestic and every day loads of people visit the fort to witness the sunrise. The city has Albert Museum, the famous Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, and many other spots worth visiting. You can witness the forts of Jaipur in different movies like Rang de Basanti, and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani among others.

Jaisalmer

If you have never seen a desert in your life, you must visit Jaisalmer. The city boasts the desert Thar which is the largest in the country. Jaisalmer is the only place in India where you can witness the beauty of the sunset in a desert. The view is so scintillating that you would fall in love with that. Jaisalmer also has a very big fort; the specialty of the fort is that people live in that fort even to this day. Jaisalmer fort, too, has made its appearance in many movies, recently Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi depicted a major action scene on top of the fort. The city is also known as the Golden City of India.

Jodhpur

Being the second-largest city in Rajasthan, Jodhpur attracts many tourists from India as well as from foreign nations. Mehrangarh fort is situated in Jodhpur and covers an area of 1200 acres. Umaid Bhawan Palace and Jaswant Thada are two among many other places that are worth visiting in the city.

Udaipur

One of the most beautiful cities in India, Udaipur is a city that will not leave any chance to surprise you with its beauty. The White City or the city is also called the Lake City of India, Udaipur has many lakes. Pichola Lake, Fateh Sagar Lake, and Jaisamand Lake are some of the most beautiful lakes in the city.

Kota

Situated on the banks of the Chhambal River, Kota is the educational hub in the Rajasthan State. Students from across the country migrate to this city to prepare for their engineering competitive exams. You will witness a swarm of students throughout the year in this city. The city is well developed in terms of flora and fauna, a good amount of city's land is covered in forests. The famous Mukundara Hills, situated inside the Darrah National Park is very close to the city.
